NCS Top-Ups (also known as Wrap-Around Hours) allow you to claim additional NCS hours for a child during mid-term breaks or any occasion where they attend extra hours or days outside their normal schedule.
These top-ups are one-time adjustments and not intended for continuous use.
Example:
If a child usually attends full-time (8 am – 6 pm) and is claimed for 30 hours/week during term time, you can create an NCS Top-Up to cover an extra 15 hours/week (depending on the child’s attendance) during a mid-term break when ECCE funding doesn’t apply — or whenever extra care is booked.
Access the Funding SectionFrom the left-hand menu, go to Finance → Funding.
Create the Top-Up FundingClick New Funding in the top-left corner.
In the pop-up window:
Enter a Funding Name — e.g., NCS Top Up.
Select the corresponding Scheme (e.g., NCS) and Calendar.
Tick Variable Funding Amount.
Choose Weekly Hours.
Click Add Funding to save.
Assign NCS Top-UpNow you can assign the top-up to any child who’s attending extra sessions — for example, additional hours during a mid-term break or extra booked days.
Use the search or filters to find the children you want to assign the top up to.
Click Assign New.
From the funding list, select NCS Top-Up.
The system will open a new funding pop-up window.
Enter Top-Up DetailsFill in the required fields:
Date From / To → The period the top-up applies to.
Hours → The number of top-up hours (e.g., 15 hrs).
Hourly Rate → The rate awarded to the child.
Total Funding → The total the service will receive (e.g., 15 hrs × €2.14).
Then click Add Funding to save.

Best Practice TipsOnly use NCS Top-Ups for short-term periods like mid-term breaks or extra care days.
Ensure dates match the actual attendance period.
Record the top-up hours accurately — these will be verified in Hive claims.
