📢 Sending Out Broadcasts

Use broadcasts to share announcements or polls with parents and children. Here’s how to create, send, and track them efficiently.

1. Open the Inbox in Room Lounge

• From Room Lounge, go to Inbox using the menu on the left.

2. Create a New Broadcast

• Tap New Broadcast to create a message or poll for parents.

3. Choose a Broadcast Type

There are two types of broadcasts:

• Announcement – for general updates or information

• Poll – to ask parents a question and collect responses

Polls include a few extra setup steps, so let’s walk through those.

4. Create a Poll

If you select Poll as the broadcast type:

• Add a Subject

• Set up the Poll Values

  • Tap Manage Values to rename existing options or add new ones

• Type your message

• Attach images if needed

5. Send Notifications (Optional)

• Use the toggles at the bottom to decide whether to also send email notifications.

• Even if emails are turned off, the broadcast will still appear in the Parent App.

By default, broadcasts appear inside the Parent App only and do not trigger a push notification.
If you need parents to see the message as soon as possible, we recommend turning on email notifications so it’s delivered straight to their inbox.

6. Post the Broadcast

• Tap Post Broadcast to send it out to parents.

What Parents See

7. Parent View

• The broadcast appears in the Room Broadcasts section of the Parent App.

• Parents can:

  • Cast their vote

  • Add a comment (if enabled)

  • Tap Update to submit their response

9. Viewing Responses

• You can open the poll at any time to view all parent responses and comments.

Best Practice

• Use Announcements for important updates and reminders.

• Use Polls for quick decisions (e.g. event themes, closures, permissions).

• Keep messages short and clear — parents are often reading on their phones.
